Products I Love In Every Beauty Category!

Everyone has that “thing” they love to buy, whether that be clothes, shoes, purses, etc. and for me, it’s beauty products! I think looking good and feeling good really go hand in hand. On the days that I get ready, it makes such a big difference! I’m sure a lot of gals out there feel the same.

Here’s a round up of my favorite products in every category, and a bit about why I love them! There are a lot of affordable options, dupes, and some items I really think are worth the splurge! Let me know if you love any of these products, or have any suggestions for something I should try next!

I am someone who LOVES makeup! It’s definitely one of the things I’ll splurge on. To me, it holds such vivid memories, and makes me so happy! I still remember the first orange MAC cosmetics lipgloss I bought with my own money when I was 12. I love how adding a little foundation, mascara or lipstick can give you such a confidence boost and feel good about yourself in an instant. These makeup favorites below are considered “brand name”, but there’s so many great drugstore options these days!! I will try and link any dupes that I know of, but there are also tons of great YouTube videos out there that recommend amazing drugstore products.

If I had to go a deserted island, and could pack ONE beauty item, I think it would be this eyeliner! I’ve been wearing black eyeliner on my top lids since I was in 8th grade, and it’s become a staple for me. I haven’t always worn it well 🙈but with a little time and practice, now without it I don’t feel like myself! I used to wear this Revlon eyeliner (which is great dupe, and under $6!) for many years, but once I discovered the Stila liner it was game changer. It stays an incredibly long time, and doesn’t run or smear easily. I have watery eyes, and that was an issue I ran into with the Revlon in my outer corners.

Looking back at old pictures of myself, I immediately notice that my eyebrows have gone through a JOURNEY over the years. To be honest, I’m still not 100% confident in my brow game! I’ve watched tutorial after tutorial, and tried many different products, and I haven’t seemed to be able to master it. Using this Anastasia pencil is the best I think I’ve gotten my brows to look. Now they’re a little more like sisters, and less like second cousins. 😅 If anyone has any tips, send them my way!

If you don’t want to spend as much, I’ve also used this NYX pencil. It’s also a good option, but the tip is shaped differently and a little harder to work with in my opinion!

I would say that I have pretty good skin, and I am thankful for that! But I do have a lot of redness and hyperpigmentation on my chin and lip area that I am self conscious of. I don’t always wear makeup to cover it, but when I wear foundation I like to use this primer before hand to make it as long lasting as possible. Like I said, the Houston area gets HOT – so if you wear foundation there’s a good chance you will sweat it off immediately once you step outside. This primer has helped SO much with that, and I highly recommend it!

Back in 2017 I became a Perfectly Posh consultant, which is a company that sells naturally based skincare and beauty products. It started when I met a lady who was selling Posh at a vendor event near where I lived and had gotten some samples from her. She stayed connected with me on Facebook, and I saw what awesome things she was doing with the company like going on trips, and making amazing friendships. That inspired me to take the leap and join too! I was going through a super hard time in my life, and I thought it’d be a fun distraction from my everyday struggles. It definitely was a fun little escape, and I discovered some great skincare products! While I still really enjoy the company products, I’m just not as active with it anymore as my life has gotten busier. A cool thing about Posh is that all products are buy 5 get 1 free! These are my top favorites, but to check out the whole catalog of products go to –

This is my holy grail Posh product, and one of their best sellers! This face wash is the sample I got that inspired me to join as a consultant. The natural exfoliation feels so nice, and is the perfect consistency! You only need a tiny bit for your entire face. And the grapefruit and peppermint essential oils feel so refreshing! As you can see I’ve been using it through a few packaging & formula changes, so it’s that good!

Perfectly Posh offers several different face masks that fall into two categories – “Off masks” or “On masks”. “Off masks” take something away, like oils, dirt, residue, build up, etc. and clarify your skin, while “On masks” soothe the skin and add hydration and nourishment. Cackle Spackle is my favorite off mask, and is great for whenever you have breakouts, or feel like your skin needs a little reset. The activated charcoal in this mask really draws out all of the impurities!

Moisture 911 is my favorite moisturizer! I live in the Houston area, which is very humid, so sometimes if I put on moisturizer in the morning, it’ll never really soak in all the way and my skin will feel greasy or heavy all day in the heat! That’s the worst feeling! I am a sweaty person by nature already, so this has limited a bunch of products for me. Moisture 911 has never given me that issue, and smells and feels amazing on the skin!

Admittedly, out of all the beauty categories hair is definitely the one that I am least confident in. I’ve always had very fine hair, and for years I wore my hair in a tight, slicked back bun while I was in the Marine Corps. That left my hair broken off, damaged, and lifeless. On days I’d wear my hair down, it looked pretty rough. Since then, I’ve been trying to repair it and really show it some love! I am going to have mermaid hair someday, one way or another!! 😄🧜🏼‍♀️

This leave in product is amazing! It detangles and conditions your hair and leaves it feeling so smooth! This brand is a little pricier, but I really like their products. This would be great to use if you didn’t want to style your hair with heat, but wanted to tame it a bit!

This dry shampoo is my all time favorite! The smell and consistency of it is perfect. I don’t use dry shampoo that often, but when I do I hate the white residue it leaves on your hair! You have to comb it out a bunch or get your hair slightly wet to try and get rid of it. This product doesn’t give me that problem! I’ve compared several other dry shampoos, even highly rated ones, and the Living Proof one takes the cake.

If you have fragile hair like I do, I really think a good shampoo and conditioner make a big difference! My friend Hilary who swears by Pureology got me onto this product, and I’ve really been loving it! I know the scent is not for everyone. Some people have told me they find the smell a little “chemical-y”, but I personally love it! To me, it’s more minty and smells refreshing. I really like the way my hair feels after using this duo!

If you know me, you know I like to find a good deal whenever I can. I’m all about being frugal and saving money! However, one thing I will always SPLURGE on is a good perfume! It’s just something I notice and pay attention to. I always pick up on when other people are wearing a great scent!

Throughout the years, I’ve worn many different perfumes as I have grown and my style has changed. My top favorites are rounded up here, and all bring back such distinct memories for me! They say that smell is the sense that’s most associated with memory… do you find that to be the case?

Chanel – Chance

It’s funny to me how some of these fragrances are marked distinctly by time periods in my life. Light Blue was my “high school” scent, and Chance by Chanel was my perfume I wore while I was in the Marine Corps. I was told many times that I smelled nice while wearing this, and that was a huge compliment! The military by nature is a very masculine place, and wearing cammies at least 5 days a week there wasn’t a lot of room to have any style, so it made it nice to be able to at least smell good! This perfume is described as a “Clean” scent with the notes being citrone, jasmine, and teakwood.

YSL – Black Opium

I bought this perfume at the recommendation of an influencer I follow, who said it was their favorite. There is no doubt that it is a high end fragrance, and I think many of you would really enjoy it! The notes are described as – black coffee, white flowers, and vanilla, and it is in the “Warm and Spicy” category of perfumes. While it smells incredible, I personally think this might be a bit better in a colder climate! The Houston area is super humid and warm, so I’m constantly sweating! 😅Warmer scents can feel a little heavy to me sometimes!

Gucci – Flora Gorgeous Gardenia

This is the fragrance I’m currently wearing, and probably my top favorite out of all of these! I was searching for something a little lighter than Black Opium, yet still very classy and mature smelling. This scent is heavenly! I also noticed that it lasts much longer throughout the day than other perfumes I have worn. It’s a floral scent, with the key notes being described as red berries, pear, and white gardenia. I will absolutely be re-purchasing this once I run out!

I hope this round up of all of the favorite beauty products I use was helpful, or gave you an idea of something new to try! What are YOUR beauty favorites?
