Books I Really Like – And Ones I Want To Read Next!

One fact about me is I am a HUGE book nerd. I have always loved reading from a very early age, to such an extent that my parents had to (lovingly) force books out of my hands at places like the dinner table. It used to be a personal challenge for me to see how quickly I could devour a book, and if I could finish it in the first day I considered it a bench mark of success. Nowadays, I have less time for reading physical books but I still constantly consume content that I can listen to on the go such as audiobooks and educational podcast episodes. It can be a great way to fill the silence of the house when you’re home alone, and have something interesting to do the dishes to. There is constantly something new to learn, or skills that I can sharpen, which I find so exciting! Besides the Harry Potter series, (NOTHING will beat my love for JK) here are a round up of some current books that I love, and ones I want to read next!

BOOKS I REALLY LIKE –

Girl Stop Apologizing – Rachel Hollis

In my opinion, Rachel Hollis is the QUEEN of the personal growth and “self help” genre. I am a huge fan girl of hers. I listen to her RISE and RISE Together podcasts every week, and it is on my bucket list to go to one of her conferences. This book is so inspiring to me, because for a long time I didn’t like anything I wasn’t good at, or know that I would succeed at before even trying. How many times have you talked yourself out of trying something before you even began because you knew it would be hard, and you wouldn’t be good at it right away? That’s basically what this book is meant to combat. Her words are FIRE!!! Reading her work has helped me develop a lot of self confidence. Even if you don’t go buy her book, definitely check out her podcasts which are free. She even reads several chapters from this book on there!

Business Boutique – Christy Wright

I bought this book on Audible because 1. I’m a busy mom now, and 2. I love Christy’s voice šŸ˜Something about her slight Southern accent feels so comforting to listen to. Like Rachel Hollis, Christy helps women discover their passions and what sets their heart on fire, but her book is more business and money centered. To be honest, I’ve been in the process of shifting my mindset about money and learning to not fear it with a scarcity mindset. The more I learn through books like this, the easier that is!

The Huntress – Kate Quinn

This is a fiction book, and I don’t often read those anymore, but Kate Quinn is a phenomenal writer! I first discovered her through reading The Alice Network at the recommendation of Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club. You can find that on Instagram, Reese recommends a book every month, and all of her suggestions are amazing! The Alice Network was without a doubt, my favorite fiction book I’ve read besides the Harry Potter series. That is HIGH PRAISE coming from me, a huge HP nerd!! When I was walking through Target and saw there was a new Kate Quinn book, I grabbed it and put it in my cart without a second thought. The Huntress lived up to the expectations I had, and I could not put it down until I had finished it. Kate Quinn writes primarily historical fiction, and The Huntress is about a lethal Nazi woman who has eluded capture, a war correspondent and his partner, and a young girl in Boston who has a new stepmother… Check out the preview at the very least – this book is awesome!

Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki

As I mentioned, I love learning about money, business, and investing. I am still figuring a lot of things out, and putting certain things into practice, but I think I have came a pretty good way. This book is one of the first I ever read in the “Money” category, and is where I would definitely recommend starting if that sort of thing interests you too. This book challenges a lot of the traditional mindsets that come around building wealth, education, saving, and other finance-related topics. One of the questions in here that I love is instead of telling yourself “I can’t afford it”, think “How can I afford it?”.

You Are A Badass – Jen Sincero

Another great book in getting you fired up, out of your head, and ready to tackle your next big goal. I just listened to a podcast interview with Jen Sincero, and she also is a big believer in changing your mindset to change your world. She went from living in a garage and being flat broke to being a #1 New York Times best selling author! Her story is inspiring, and she brings a lot of humor into her writing. One thing I will say – I got this book on Audible, and this one was a little hard for me to deep dive into in audio format. She narrates pretty slowly, so I would recommend either picking up the physical copy of the book, or turning the speed up to 1.5x.

BOOKS I WANT TO READ NEXT

Do Less – Kate Northrup

I’ve been doing some reading about how multi-tasking is actually bad for you, and that’s what this book dives into. I am always having a million things on my mind at once, and more often than not I end up being productive at none of the things I’ve set out to accomplish. I always tend to think, if I work hard enough, if I plan more, or if I get up earlier I can do ALL the things that I want to do, and that has always left me coming up short. This book is next on my list for sure! I’m multi-passionate about a lot of things, but that doesn’t help me actually accomplish a lot of things.

Automatic Millionaire – David Bach

I first came across David Bach on the RISE podcast – (like I mentioned, I’m a Rachel Hollis fangirl!) and I was totally captivated by him and his work. He has a fantastic voice for narrating, and I was engaged the entire hour or more that he spoke. He breaks financial topics down in an easy to understand way, that leaves you curious and excited to learn more. He has several best-selling books, but this is the one that is really calling to me.

You Are A Badass At Making Money – Jen Sincero

From reading Jen Sincero and hearing a lot about the topic, I really do think changing your mindset can change your life. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this book, and am really curious to dive into mastering the mindset of wealth as the cover promises. If it’s anything like her first book, it’s bound to be a good one!

There you have it, a round up of most of my favorite books! Except for Harry Potter, but that goes without even saying… šŸ˜‰ Let me know in the comments what you’re favorite books are, and if you decide to check out any of the ones that I mentioned!

xoxo
